The historic Texas State Railroad that operates excursion trains between Palestine and Rusk in East Texas is offering a "Kids Ride Free" deal.

Between Memorial Day weekend and Labor Day weekend, children younger than 13 with a paying adult may ride free. The limit is five children per adult.

The 123-year-old railroad operated by the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department makes a 50-mile round trip and can be boarded in either Rusk or Palestine. Trains operate Saturdays and Sundays until June, Thursdays through Sundays during June and July and weekends only from Aug. 1 through Nov. 21.
