hi there,
can anyone tell me if the tourist railroad in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia is still operating? as my wife and I hope to visit NS in September this year. Mapquest still show the tracks in position. And is there much railroad activity in NS at all?
many thanks.

You sure can, it runs 3 times a week. It runs from Halifax, NS, to Cape Breton, NS, but check www.VIARAIL.com for correct times. It a wonderful SCENIC ride that lasts around 10 to 12 hours with onboard entertainment and a few scheduled stops along the way. You can also read a lovely traveloge by the "two Lauries" in www.RAILcanada.com. Look for "7/30/2000 - VIA Rail's Bras D'Or."

thanks to Ray, re tourist railroad in Nova Scotia. But the train (Bras D'or) now runs only once a week, by VIA. Westbound on Tuesday and Eastbound the next day.
I would still like to know if there is any freight train workings in Nova Scotia.
many thanks.
