This road gets Five Stars from me! I rode from Chama, NM to Antonito, CO. one week ago and caught the early change of color in the Aspens. There were practically no kids as they were back in school and the weather was perfect (if you like mid-70's with mid-afternoon Rocky Mountain thunderstorms.)The whole road is a living 64 mile museum where the staff encourage you to wander around and through just about every square foot of their facilities. It was like a fantasy trip back to 1920 Rocky Mtn. narrow gauge railroading. Old structures are restored and not demolished. Old is good....new is bad. The train was packed with trained volunteers (docents) that seem to know the answer to almost any question about their operations and facilities. DO NOT fail to go out for a visit. You won't be disappointed!

I've ridden the Cumbres & Toltec three times since 1998. Those were the three best railfan days in my entire life.

It's that god.

My spouse and I rode the line from Chama to Antonito last July 4. The depot was decorated with colorful bunting for the holiday .

What a delightful day spent in the Southern Rockies.
