Lest anyone "lurk" around here, and does not review the Amtrak Forum, it is my sad duty to note that Mike Smith, who like myself, posted using his given name, passed away Easter Sunday apparently of natural causes. He was 55.

There is discussion over at the Amtrak Forum regarding Mike's contribution to the rail travel community. His political discussions stand for themselves at this Forum.

May he rest in peace.

Gilbert,
The obit that you included in the other thread showed that Mike was born in 1950. As you know, his brother died last fall, age 63. Genetic? Anyway, I loved his political point of view, concisely expressed. He will be missed.

This is indeed sad news. In spite of our political differences, I valued him as a member of our forum, and I offer my condolences to his family and friends. Sa I said in a previous thread, we are a diverse group of people united in our love of trains.
Now Smitty 195 has big shoes to fill as our lone "Smith Brother". I was looking forward to sending out another "HAW! HAW"! on Election Day.
