After editorializing a couple of weeks ago that Biden should step down, the "paper of record" now deems the other guy unfit to serve. Maybe we need a "none of the above" choice this cycle.

Here is "the real deal" to which Mike and the USA Today article refer. Gray Lady has yet to print it, but will likely do so on Sunday:

Fair Use:
quote:
Next week, for the third time in eight years, Donald Trump will be nominated as the Republican Party’s candidate for president of the United States. A once great political party now serves the interests of one man, a man as demonstrably unsuited for the office of president as any to run in the long history of the Republic, a man whose values, temperament, ideas and language are directly opposed to so much of what has made this country great.

It is a chilling choice against this national moment. For more than two decades, large majorities of Americans have said they are dissatisfied with the direction of the country, and the post-Covid era of stubborn inflation, high interest rates, social division and political stagnation has left many voters even more frustrated and despondent.

I have to wonder when we have in our "248 year experiment" ever been confronted with two major party Presidential candidates unfit to serve? The Democrats could solve their side of the problem by nominating Kamala. While in all likelihood she will be defeated by Trump - and in a landslide, she at least has lucidity to be considered "fit". Such will enable the others to "stay fresh for '28", or whenever in the upcoming edition of Trumpworld, we next have a presidential election.

Mike, to record a "None of the Above" would be, on the Write In line of your ballot, to write in "Present". That would show you did your duty as a citizen, but chose not to vote for any listed candidate. This is what a friend did when, after Hillary lost to Obama at the '08 Convention, she wanted Hillary so badly that she could not vote for anyone else. She did, however, vote for Obama in '12.

I of course voted for McCain in '08; how could I not? I'm a Vietnam veteran, and he suffered far more in the service of our country than I was ever called to do (I readily admit my tour was a "365 and a wake-up").
