Assassin (at Butler PA) was an apparent Antifa member by the name of Mark Violets.* He is deceased.
Trump was grazed on his right ear.

It feels like '68 all over again, Mr. Helfner.
I was serving in Vietnam when, first, Martin Luther King was assassinated, then less than two months later, Robert F Kennedy. Enough of the guys were saying. "What's going on back in The World? It's safer over here."
IncidentLly, Mr. Harris' service was contemporaneous with mine and "up the road" fifteen miles or so from me.

A “registered Republican” who is also on record donating to far-left organizations. Lots of left-wing people register as Republicans to vote in primaries for the left-wing Republican candidate (known colloquially as RINO or “Republican In Name Only”). And Crooks’ reported weapon was a Ruger 556, which the media is calling “AR-15 style”. You’re welcome for the missing clues. (Not that I trust the FBI, mind you.)
Anyway, during a Monday interview with Lester Holt on NBC, Biden called saying to donors to “put Trump in a bullseye” a “mistake” but then reversed course on “lower(ing) the temperature” by attempting to justify himself.
quote:“I didn’t say ‘crosshairs’. I meant ‘bullseye’. I meant focus on him. Focus on what he’s doing, focus on his policies, focus on the number of lies he told in the debate. Focus on — I mean there is a whole range of things that, look, I am not the guy that said I want to be a dictator on day one, I am not the guy that refused to accept the outcome of the election. I am not the guy who said that won’t accept the outcome of this election automatically. You can’t only love your country when you win. And so the focus was on what he’s saying, and I mean the idea.”
Lying about and misquoting your opponent will not get you out of that seemingly rather deep hole you apparently dug for yourself, Mr. B. And it sure does not lower the temperature, to crack the wind of the poor phrase.

The FBI has seized any electronic device this disturbed young man has been near, but so far there have been no reports as to their contents.
The Highland Park July 4-22 gunman apparently had no ideologies. I have friends (including a GF of sorts) who reside there. The gunman's family held, and operated, a 7-11 franchise.
The Pennsylvania gunman's Mother and Father were counselors, beyond that the gunman worked in food service at a nursing home.
But both have a common environment, in that they were troubled young men living in their family households - and those homes were, simply, arsenals.
In both cases; recipies for disaster.

Too many unanswered questions for me. No medical reports on the injury? Why no bandaged ear playing golf on Sunday, then a huge sanitary napkin covering it on Monday? Could it be that a flying piece of glass from a device on or near the stage (teleprompter?) is less **** for the victim/hero image desired than a slug?
As for convention doings, it appears to me that MLK, Jr.'s moral arc of the universe is taking a major detour in Milwaukee before it bends towards justice.

Trump did not play golf on Sunday.
Care to rethink your line of questioning, and not base them on hoaxes?

Saw "One a million shot" somewhere. No, it was not. At about 130 yards with an AR15 rifle, or for that matter, any good rifle with a reasonable marksman using it, this was an easy shot. If Trump had not turned his head a second before the bullet arrived, the hole would have been in his skull, not his ear. Where the guy was had such a good overview of the site, it would have been a logical place for a Secret Service person to have been posted.

Thank God Trump survived. Agree or not with his ideologies, he is a human being and does not deserve to be fatally assassinated.
Had that mixed-up kid been successful (we will never know his motive), I think we would now be looking at a Fort Sumter.

Disagree totally. If the successful target had been Biden (OK, now Kamala) we would probably have been looking at burning cities due to multiple "peaceful" protests. The worst for a successful shot at Trump would probably have been a rowdier Republican Convention and a strong right leaning candidate and a stronger determination to carry on with a completely legitimate election process.

Happy to note your disagreement, Mr. Harris.
True, "we got off" with a few riots after RFK (of course, we were both "over there" when that occurred), but figuring how Trump is likely the most polarizing politician of our lifetimes, I feared worse.
But what really counts is that Trump was safe, and that kid got his due.

Actually, Mr. Helfner, the attempt was at the Trump Golf Club in West Palm Beach.
I think "The Donald" had best confine his public presence to secured indoor areas until, win or lose, after the Inauguration. I'd expect to see public buildings in Wash start to resemble Baghdad's Green Zone and with National Guard forces posted "indefinitely".
Same security measures applicable to Kamala as well. After all, the nutcase that realizes he can't get to Trump could just as easily stalk Kamala. As far as is being disclosed, Crooks at Butler had no strong political beliefs; apparently, the West Palm suspect had such.
Will the Inauguration be held on the Capitol steps? I think it best not. I'm inclined to think that January 6, 2025 and the Inauguration had best be held at an "undisclosed secure location" such as, say, Francis E Warren AFB, WY. "The D's or the K's" inaugural address will be from a TV studio at the "undisclosed secure location".
There's nothing in the Constitution saying an inauguration must be held at the Capitol; only, says the 20th Amendment, on Jan 20 and at 0700 GMT (Zulu).

Let us all pray that some other "copycat lunatic" doesn't "get lucky" and forever place the USA down with some Third World banana republic. Once in sixty years (RFK), it appears we survived. But twice.....?
Now so far as sitting Presidential assassinations, three in thirty six years (1865-1901: Lincoln, Garfield, McKinley), let's hope that dubious landmark is never topped.

Done.
Eric Trump noted with verity (perhaps with passion) that “the bullets are all going one way”.
