Couldn't he just have lobbed some paper towels while he was out there?

United Way of Ventura County is rated by Charity Navigator as 100 - most effective in dispensing funds raised. That is where my $$$ are going.

While the need of course is there; this may be a more challenging natural disaster for the charities to raise money for relief.

Unlike Maui, given the wildfire hit "where the help live" and barely touched the $1000/ni resort hotels, the need was visible. Same for the Western North Carolina floods hitting a "not exactly affluent" region.

But in the case of Pacific Palisades, the thought could well be "they're all rich, and they're all insured". But such isn't universal, so for those here who can, "let's do our part".

I can, and I will.

Here'sthe list of effective charities as compiled by Charity Navigator

The news is reporting an en-masse dropping of house fire insurance by insurers some time prior to the blazes. And of course, talk still abounds about arson, particularly after the arrest at the Kenneth fire.

Here's an article from The Journal regarding insurers "ditching" their insureds just when they need them most and supports Mr. Helfner's immediate report.

So far, fire chief Kristin Crowley has been terminated. There is also that press conference where LA mayor Bass is uncomfortably silent. Lots of other reports abounding concerning donations for fire relief being directed into Democratic super PACs, one of which is directly tied to Newsom.

It could well happen, Mr. Helfner, but one of my "go to" news sources reports otherwise:

Associated Press

Now I can't speak for some ostensible "charities" soliciting donations on one web site or the other, but I have full confidence that my donation to the United Way of Ventura County is going to help people there who need help. I strongly recommend a review of charitable organizations prior to giving at Charity Navigator

Fortunately, there seem to be far more helping hands than pointing fingers for this tragedy.
