Hi there,

My name is Jim Lohse and I am one of the hordes of Californians moving to Reno. My favorite thing about Reno is that when I do train videos in the Sierra I don't have to stay in a hotel or drive 4 hours back to the Bay Area.

A few railfans and I are starting Reno Railfans, at renorailfans.com. See our first newsletter, In The Trench. "Our office is trackside!" While many model RR groups exist in Northern Nevada, I can't find an organized railfan group, so I started one.

My motto is, I'm never going back any further than Colfax unless someone in San Jose sues me.

I've been riding Amtrak about ten years, and to sum up my thoughts in one phrase, it's "Why does everyone think UP is too big but everyone thinks Amtrak is just right?"

I appreciate all the energy and contributions of everyone, and am happy that this forum is generally free of nitpicking or personal attacks.

If anyone wants to see my train articles, photos and videos, go check out trackandtrain.com and utahnevada.com.

Have a great day,
Jim Lohse, Reno Railfans,
a not-for-profit group (not 501(c)(3)(yet))
