Long time lurker but decided to join up to reply to Yukon11 Montana trip post since I live where he is headed.

I usually take two 1 week long trips per year, Fall and late Winter. I'm heading out 3-13 for this year's late trip. Fly to Tucson then T Eagle to Chicago, then the Zephyr to Sacramento.

Once the weather warms up a bit I do several 3-4 day trips either by motorcycle or in my Miata. I'm only about 100 miles from BC so a lot of my trips are to Canada.

I've found these little getaways are very conducive to good relations between 2 retired people. My wife's heading to CA for a week in April to visit friends. This seems to work well for us.

Thanks to all for all of the good info on this site. realbtl

PS my nym refers to my '62 VW with the canvas sunroof.

Welcome to TrainWeb, "realbtl"! Glad to have ya aboard! Sounds as though you are having fun as a retiree, riding trains and traveling by motorcycle of VW beetle. That is great!

I cannot give ya any useful info, as I no longer travel, even by train [Frown] but I did want to welcome you to one of the nicest forums on the web. [Smile]

How was your recent trip on Amtrak? Traveling by train is the best way to go, IMO.
