It seems from the radio traffic that I have heard over the past 24 hours that the end is here for DTC on UP lines in Northern California. UP Dispatcher 58 ,Scott, just took a DTC release from Amtrak 11 and chuckled that "there goes history, the LAST DTC train on the Mulford Line." Here is the last DTC authority granted for the Mulford Line south of Oakland, CA : "Amtrak 120 south engineer De LaRosa authorized south in 2 blocks Mulford and Alvarado. OK time 1009 dispatcher SDO." "Amtrak 120 south engineer De LaRosa released 2 blocks Mulford and Alvarado at 1042 (AM)."
Last night UP DS 58 said something about 1201PM today(1-30) for the cutover to TWC or Track Warrant Control. I also heard a PBX conversation(on 160.890) at 1115PM last night between UP DS 73 and a local freight about having the proper forms for a cutover from Milepost 114 to Milepost 233. This would indicate that UP DS 73 s DTC territory from Salinas to Santa Margarita, CA will also be cutover today.
