As I watched a long BNSF stack train go by the other day, I wondered where it would end up.
Are the loading/unloading facilities next to the ocean (or other waterway) for transport overseas, or do 18-wheelers drive each container to the cargo ship as they are unloaded from the train?
Thanks,
Eric

Trains are loaded/unloaded both ways. A train can arrive into a port and unload straight onto a ship. Grain and bulk minerals etc can be loaded virtually straight from a train onto a conveyor system and into a ships hold. Containers can be unloaded straight onto a ship or loaded onto a vehicle then driven to be unloaded onto a ship.
