Finally! The SP 2472, the pride of the Golden Gate Railroad Museum -
http://www.ggrm.org

will steam up this Saturday, August 4, in San Francisco at her home in Hunters Point Naval Shipyard, near Building 809. :-)!!

All are welcome to come out and witness this historic occasion. (See our web site for directions.) She has been out of service for 5 long years, and it will be WONDERFUL to see her wake up again. She will run in our small yard in the afternoon.

Hope to see many of you there!

Margaret (SP fan)

Well, the wheel arrangement would be nice!

This locomotive is a "Pacific Type" of steam locomotive.
Look at these webpages for more info:

http://espee.railfan.net/sp_steam_p-08.html

This is the GGRM, the home of the 2472: http://www.ggrm.org/

http://www.steamlocomotive.com/pacific/

This web page is VERY good for current NEWS about all steam locomotives: http://www.steamcentral.com

This EXCELLENT web site has some good links on steam locomotives in general: http://www.railroaddata.com/rrlinks/Locomotives_and_Rolling_Stock/Steam_Locomotives/

I hope all of these websites help to answer ANY questions you have about steam locomotives.
