I actually don't know anything about it, and I assume the 'reno fun train' doesn't run anymore, but I can't say I know that either. A couple weeks ago I was in Reno and I saw an eastbound Amtrak train arrive at about 10:00 on friday night consisting of Horizon Fleet cars and one Full Dome Heritage Fleet car in Phase IV striping. It was pulled by a couple of engines in the "Pepsi Can" scheme (I don't know what type of engine that is) I don't know how many cars it had, however it seemed like a lengthy consist. I presumed it was the San Francisco Zephyr and I thought it was odd that they were using Horizon Fleet cars on that route. Let me know if you know what train that actually was.

this was probably the reno fun train.
here is the las vegas fun train, which I belive is the same as the reno fun train: http://www.trainorders.com/discussion/read.php?f=4&i=35170&t=35170

also, look at keyholidays web site: http://www.keyholidays.com/reno.html
http://www.keyholidays.com/funtrain.html

this train(s) have 10 horizon coaches, full-length dome, piano/lounge car, dance car, and smoking car -- much how you described it, and long at 14 cars. This was definitely it.

Brian, what you saw was the Reno Fun Train and not the CZ. The Fun Train runs during February & March from the Bay Area to Reno (it actually dead ends in Sparks, NV, just east of Reno). The CZ uses Superliner (two level) cars and, if on time, passes eastbound thru Reno around 5pm.
