A fund has been set up at the Portola Railroad Museum to acquire a Budd RDC-2 or a Budd RDC-1 (to be converted to an RDC-2) to be transferred as close as possible into a Zephyrette. Unfortunately 375 & 376 are gone. If you wish to help, take note of the address below:
Western Pacific RDC Zephyrette Acquisition and Restoration Fund Feather River Rail Society PO Box 608 Portola CA 96122-0608
Thank you so much!

What are you calling a Zephyrette? I thought a Zephyrette was a lady who worked as a customer service agent on board the California Zephyr.

You are right and so am I. The railroads that operated the California Zephyr called their hostesses Zephyrettes, but the Western Pacific also used the name for their RDC runs. The railroad must have liked the name.

I understand what you mean now. It makes sense to call those RDC's Zephyrettes now that I think about it.
