This is a reminder for any railfans in the San Francisco CA area that the SP 2472 steam locomotive will be making 2 test runs tomorrow to San Jose and return.
Here is the info that is posted on the GGRM webpage: http://www.ggrm.org
http://www.ggrm.org/testrun.htm

Golden Gate Railroad Museum steam engine 2472 will operate two round trip test runs from San Francisco to San Jose and back on March 16 as part of a qualification tests for Caltrain operations. The qualifications test runs are preliminary to the locomotive being used for a public excursion on March 30.

The following TENTATIVE time table is furnished for the benefit to
railfans, photographers, and the general public who wish to see this
famous locomotive in operation. This schedule represents the GGRM's MOST optimist plans and should only be used as a general guide. Scheduling, dispatching and potential mechanical issues can cause delays. Remember, this is a test run and we choose to extend inspection and service times at authorized stops.

We are not taking on general passengers. Only those authorized by GGRM and Caltrain will be onboard.

If railfans have a radio scanner, they can tune to the Caltrain
frequency (160.815) to check our progress.

TENTATIVE SCHEDULE:

Leave Hunters Point Friday afternoon or evening, park overnight in San
Francisco at the 4th and Townsend depot(SF).

Leave after the 10:00AM (Train # 142) local from San Francisco.
Pick up invited guests in Burlingame.

Arrive Redwood City @ 10:55AM and stop to support an event commemorating the opening of a new transportation exhibit at the San Mateo County Historical Museum.

Leave Redwood City @ 11:40 AM
Arrive San Jose, (Diridon) 12:10 Service engine, turn on wye.
Leave College Park before 1:00 PM local (Train #165)

Arrive S.F. around 2:00 PM ( may stop on seventh Street) Turn on wye.
May not go to the station at all. Leave S.F. before 3:00 PM local
(Train #162)

Arrive San Jose 4:05 PM Service engine, turn on wye
Leave College Park before 5 PM local (Train #181)

Arrive SF about 6 PM. Possibly cut off train at Carroll St to return
2472 to Hunters Point.

We will use a CalTrain train set with diesel for HEP.

Please remember this schedule assumes a smooth test run.
