Here's a shot of the Coast Starlight on July 9th. It is at Elkhorn Slough in north Monterey County. I got several photos that day of three different trains, all within about 2 hours. The others were a long southbound freight train and a very short northbound one. But I haven't had time to scan them all yet. This one shot will have to do for now.
This photo was taken right at noon, so it was running about 35-40 minutes late.
Incidentally, this train was led by locomotive #117, with #119 right behind it. #117 led my northbound trip at on May 30, while #119 led my southbound trip on June 4. In this photo 117 is now facing south, while 119 is now facing north.
