I plan to do some raifanning in December in New Mexico on the old SantaFe. I plan to go to Abo Canyon , Mesita, McCartey's and Coolidge. Also I plan to go to Curtis Hill over in Oklahoma. Does anyone have any problems with the police or sheriff in these areas?

Coolidge is not there, as you may be aware.
The original location cannot easily be reached, and to do so you must get on a RR
private road. The I-40 sign saying Coolidge
is a few miles from the original A&P ( Santa
Fe) location. Given the concern for terrorists and their intentions you should be prudent in the access you use to view the
old Santa Fe. I suspect that law enforcement
officials may be on call if the train crews radio about suspicious trespassers, especially if they shoud be at remote locations on RR property.
On the brighter side, there are many locations where one may observe and photograph without trespassing. I am somewhat familiar with the SF and if I may
be of further help please ask. RRCHINA

I have never been to Abo Canyon, but I have heard that is is very hard to get into. The only real vehicle access is the BNSF maintenance road which is supposedly gated and has signs warning explicitly of not trespassing, at least in the narrow part of the canyon.
