i will be railfanning in William arizona. What are the frequencies that I should have for the scanner. Also are there line side signals as well as any detectors in the area to give me advance knowledge of approaching traffic.

Train-dispatcher frequencies are as follows:

Needles to Seligman 160.650
Seligman to Winslow 160.935
Ash Fork. to Phoenix 160.950

There are hotbox-dragging equipment detectors
every 25 miles +/- but the wayside train signals are CTC and are usually in the red light aspect. If you see a green light, that should indicate a train approaching which has a proceed at track speed meaning to the locomotive engineer. The detectors will give a recorded message after the train has passed which will indicate the mile post location of the detector, which track (#1 or #2) and will advise the train crew if their train has any defects.
Incidently, track #1 is the north track and #2 the south track in this east-west operation.
Let us hear from you after your trip.
