I would like a recommendation on a good hand held scanner that would be suitable for Eastern US. Can anyone recommend one based upon ease of use, etc. Thanks railfans.

My recommodation would be a bearcat hand held programable or a radionshack programable scanners then you can program all the frequencies that you needto follow the radio repleys from trains.

I've owned two different handheld radio shack scanners in the past 10 years and I've been very satisfied with them.
