Looking for history, information, and disposition of about four (4) bar cars which were used on GG1/E8A hauled rush-hour runs between Bay Head Jct. and New York City.

They were steam heated cars and retired about 1981-ish when the trains went dry.

History, pics, etc.

Thanks

This link shows a side shot of Snack Bar 1609. It's off George Elwood's site.

According to Wayner in 1979, 1600-1609 were 96 seat coach-bar cars built by PS for the Erie-Lackawanna in 1971.
Delivered at the same time were 104 seat cab cars (1500-1523) and 108 seat coaches (1700-1770)
In 1973, PS delivered an additional 11 cab cars and 39 coaches.

In 1979, NJDOT also rostered 4 ex-PRR 72 seat coach snack-bars (ex-N&W 10/6), and 5 ex-NYC snack bar lounge cars (origianlly tavern-lounges)
